The road to Plymouth – the 2024 Cadet World Championship is heading to the UK
Teams from across the world will be heading to Plymouth, being one of the most historic and important naval towns in the UK, this summer for the Cadet World Championship from 3rd to 10th August 2024.
The event will see teams of young people aged from seven to seventeen, competing over a full week of exciting sailing to be crowned world champion.
The Royal Geelong Yacht Club is proudly represented for this upcoming Championship with 6 junior sailors taking part in the event.
With over 200 sailors taking part, with competitors travelling from as far as Australia and Argentina, along with countries from around Europe, such as Germany, Belgium, Ukraine & Poland just to name a few. It will be a fantastic opportunity for our sailors to showcase their skills.

As the new foundations for the Training School continue to grow up from the ground, we all look forward to when this will be completed and used for all future training and development for our junior sailors. As with all large scale projects, there are many smaller details that need to be considered and allocated for.
One of these small, but vitally important details is to ensure that the school has the state of the art infrastructure, such as the Audio Visual and IT (Information Technology), framework inplace to ensure that it meets the fast paced and growing requirements for all the education equipment, training aids and ‘E Learning platforms’ to be used effectively. The Foundation are looking for assistance through donations of funds to help achieve this outcome for the school.

With the Royal Geelong Yacht Club having recently taken delivery of the fleet of RS21 Sailing vessels, The Foundation has partnered with the RGYC Club to assist and sponsor one of the RS21 yachts. The money provided by the Foundation will be used to ensure the vessel and its equipment is well maintained and available for all participants to enjoy, as part of the Sailability Program. With the Royal Geelong Yacht Club going through an ever changing evolution through the new Water Front Precinct, there will be many new projects and opportunities to ensure that the club has a solid future for it’s current and new members.
